Passover Arson Attack on Gov. Shapiro

April 15, 2025

We hope you had a meaningful first two days of Passover and Seders. While we celebrated our liberation from tyranny, oppression continues in the current day.

On Saturday night, after we all concluded our first Seder, Governor Josh Shapiro and his family were targeted by a hateful arsonist who set fire to the very room where the governor held his own Passover Seder mere hours before.

We are deeply disturbed by the unconscionable targeting of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family. This horrific incident is traumatic for Jewish Americans, who have felt the rise of antisemitism and hate throughout the United States. On the holiday of Passover, when we celebrate our freedom from oppression and think of those held in captivity in Gaza and others afflicted by hate, we condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms.

In response to a violent, premeditated attack on one of the country’s leading Jewish officials, it is expected that the president will work across the aisle to ensure justice, as Governor Shapiro did when he oversaw law enforcement’s response to the assassination attempt on President Trump last summer in Butler, PA. For more than a day, Trump said nothing about the attack, and yesterday, he commented about the perpetrator’s alleged political views as opposed to issuing a clear condemnation of this violence. We call on President Trump to forcefully condemn this act of political violence and dedicate all necessary resources to the investigation.

Add your name to the following letter to Governor Shapiro and do something that President Trump unconscionably refused to do – express your support for Governor Shapiro and his family and condemn all political violence, including this horrific attack.

STAND WITH GOVERNOR SHAPIRO

Thank you,
